Email Governor Parson

On December 3rd, 2019 KCPD Officer Eric DeValkenaere shot and killed Cameron Lamb, an unarmed Black man in his own backyard. Despite him being found guilty twice by four judges, Governor Parson is considering pardoning DeValkenaere, sending the message that the law doesn’t apply to everyone.

Use the following as a template, but feel free to change things, it will be better in your own words.

Sample email:

I am writing to urge you NOT to pardon former KCPD Detective Eric DeValkenaere for the death of Cameron Lamb. To do so would be detrimental to the eroding trust between our community and law enforcement and threaten the health and safety of all Kansas City residents.

Mr. DeValkenaere had a fair and impartial bench trial by the highly regarded Judge Youngs and the best defense the FOP could buy. His conviction was then upheld by a three judge panel, further proving that DeValkenaere is guilty of this crime.

Holding officers accountable is a huge step in regaining community trust, paramount in reducing violent crime in Kansas City and communities throughout Missouri.

Thank you for reading my email and deciding not to pardon Eric DeValkenaere.

Sincerely

{Your name}

{city} resident and voter
